A New Hybrid Wax Gourd ‘Tiezhu’
‘Tiezhu’ is a middle-late maturity hybrid of wax gourd [Benincasahispida（Thumb.）Cogn. How.] with good quality, high yields, and tolerance to storage. The fruit is in a long cylinder shape, with dark green skin, weighing about 13.2 kg. It is 81.3 cm in length,19.5 cm in diameter, and 6.5 cm in flesh thickness. The white flesh is firm and the compactness ratio is 1.944 g · cm-3. The hybrid grows vigorously and has wide adaptability. The cultivar is moderately resistant to Phytophthorablight wilt and virus and resistant to Fusarumwilt. It takes 120 days to harvest from sowing. The yield is above 90t · hm-2.
